THE HEART

Pietra Rossa is nestled in a magical spot: the Sotoportego della Corte Nova, where the plague of 1630 stopped without ever spreading to this part of the city. According to legend, here you can feel safe.

The Castello district is one of the most genuine and authentic in Venice, still a destination for mindful tourism. We consider it the city’s beating heart, and with Pietra Rossa, we aim to keep it vibrant and alive.

Pietra Rossa is the latest project by Andrea Lorenzon, who, after ten years at his first restaurant, CoVino, opened a new chapter in his hospitality journey in 2023.

Larger spaces, a genuine Kamado Pro grill, and a “wine cabin” to store all wines at optimal serving temperatures are some of the tools that, along with teamwork, allow us to maximize the value of ingredients and creativity in both the kitchen and dining room.

For us, Pietra Rossa is home: a place where every guest can feel welcomed and discover the joy of contemporary Venetian cuisine that respects the land while embracing a playful spirit.

From the island of Sant’Erasmo, we source zero-kilometer vegetables thanks to the Osti in Orto project, of which we are members. For us, agriculture must be sustainable and circular, just like the choice of raw materials: meat from ethical farms, Adriatic fish from responsible fishing, and Slow Food-presidium products that protect traditions and knowledge. Our menu follows the seasons, changing frequently based on market availability.

We have long been a stronghold for spontaneous fermentation wines, produced ethically and artisanally. We value territories and people, selecting the labels in our wine list based on a single criterion: healthy grapes, local origins, and integrity in the cellar!

We are members of the Association of Restaurants for Good Hospitality, a network of restaurateurs committed to serving seasonal ingredients from local producers and preserving Venetian culinary tradition, reinterpreting it with a modern perspective.
